Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B (APSB) was founded with the goal of creating a global high-level forum centred around drug discovery and pharmaceutical research/application. APSB was included by Chemical Abstracts in 2011, accepted by PubMed Central in 2015, indexed by Science Citation Index in 2017 and has evolved to become one of the most important international journals in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.

APSB is a monthly journal, in English, which publishes significant original research articles, rapid communications and high-quality reviews of recent advances in all areas of pharmaceutical sciences — including pharmacology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, natural products, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical analysis and pharmacokinetics.

Articles of interest in this issue include:

Preclinical and early clinical studies of a novel compound SYHA1813 that efficiently crosses the blood–brain barrier and exhibits potent activity against glioblastoma by Yingqiang Liu, Zhengsheng Zhan, Zhuang Kang et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2023.09.009). SYHA1813 exerts anti-tumor effects by simultaneously inhibiting angiogenesis and affecting tumor-associated macrophages, and shows the therapeutic potential of glioma by efficiently crossing the blood–brain barrier.

Discovery and druggability evaluation of pyrrolamide-type GyrB/ParE inhibitor against drug-resistant bacterial infection by Xintong Zhao, Jing Feng, Jie Zhang et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2023.08.030). A novel pyrrolamide-type GyrB/ParE inhibitor against drug-resistant bacterial infection with excellent pharmacological activity and druggability was discovered by the structural modifications of the AZD5099 which was withdrawn from clinical trials.

Hippo pathway-manipulating neutrophil-mimic hybrid nanoparticles for cardiac ischemic injury via modulation of local immunity and cardiac regeneration by Qiaozi Wang, Yanan Song, Jinfeng Gao et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2023.08.021). Hybrid neutrophil-mimic nanoparticle NM@miR could realize absorption of proinflammatory cytokines and delivery of proliferative microRNA together, which holds huge potential for the regenerative treatment of cardiac ischemic diseases.
