Figure 1: Injured geriatric muscle shows increased signs of senescence. Adult and geriatric Tibialis anterior (TA) muscle was injured and was stained for the presence of the senescence marker, SA-β-gal (seen as a blue stain, left). Geriatric TA muscles showed an increased percentage of SA-β-gal positive cells compared to their younger counterparts (right).
