Heavy quark diffusion graphic (IMAGE) DOE/Brookhaven National Laboratory Caption The data points on this graph show that the interactions of heavy quarks (Q) with the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) are strongest and have a short mean free path (zig zags) right around the transition temperature (T/Tc = 1). The interaction strength (the heavy quark diffusion constant) decreases, and the mean free path lengthens, at higher temperatures.
