The image shows the effects of applying tension to cell nuclei on contacts between the chromosomes of both the human and mosquito genomes (red and white squares), with corresponding 3D simulations (colorful stringlike structures). The human interphase chromosome is less sensitive to mechanical cues than the mosquito interphase chromosome.
