Logan-Wolynes theory: predicting energy transfer in a chlorophyll model (VIDEO)
Caption
The cone shape oscillating between "Exciton 1" and "Exciton 2" (where an exciton is a bound electron-hole pair and the "hole" is the place where the excited electron came from) represents energy flow between two chlorophyll molecules. Two cases of energy transfer are illustrated: The energy transfer occurs in a directed, orderly way (top) and transferred energy is dissipated randomly as heat (bottom).
