PHB alleviating colitis through Lactobacillus johnsonii-biofilm-mediated maturation of sulfomucin

PHB function was jointly verified by means of single bacteria isolation and microbe transplantation. PHB specifically promotes L. johnsonii growth and its biofilm formation, consequently alleviating diarrhea and colitis by supporting the differentiation of goblet cells and maturation of sulfomucin. The application of PHB and biofilm self-coated L. johnsonii may have clinical relevance.
