Klebsiella pneumoniae and Acinetobacter baumannii growing together (IMAGE)
Caption
Klebsiella pneumoniae and Acinetobacter baumannii growing together on differential media (MacConkey agar) that allows for distinguishing them based on their different metabolic capacity (Klebsiella is red and Acinetobacter is yellow). In this plate they’re on an antibiotic (cefotaxime) concentration that would normally kill Klebsiella on its own.
