Caption
An artificial thumb-sized sensor that gives robots a sense of touch. It uses a camera with colorful LED lightning to see the soft robot skin from within. Being touched from outside, the sensor sees the deformation and translates it into force information relying on machine learning techniques. A force map shown on the right describes where and how the external objects are touching the robot finger.
