The PNNL Lab Homes, two identically constructed modular homes that are fitted with instruments and are unoccupied provide facilities for testing advanced home energy efficiency and smart grid-related technologies. The Lab Homes were used in the connected homes project to experimentally test, under realistic conditions, the controls designed to enable legacy home appliances to provide services to the electric power grid.
