Coulomb stress changes caused by the Maduo Earthquake (Figure 2) (IMAGE)
Caption
The red star indicates the epicenter of the Maduo Earthquake. The focal mechanism is from the Global Centroid Moment Tensor database (GCMT). Green circles are aftershocks above M3 (https://news.ceic.ac.cn). White stars are epicenters of major historic earthquakes in the study region, with thick black lines indicating ruptures in these earthquakes. The red dashed line indicates the Maqin-Maqu seismic gap. For the causative fault Kunlun Mountain Pass-Jiangcuo fault, the black solid line is from the HimaTibetMap1.0, the white solid line is the rupture line determined from the aftershock pattern, and the dashed line on the east is the possible extension. The base map is the topography of the study region.
