Bats Roosting above a Container Used to Collect Date Palm Sap

Raw date palm sap is a Nipah pathway. Bats feed on sap accumulating in collection pots hung in trees. When they feed, infected bats shed the virus through saliva and urine. If people drink the sap without boiling it, they can become infected.
