This is a a household of Makushi women and girls in Guyana. University of Utah anthropologist Ryan Schacht found that in villages where females outnumber men, the old stereotype holds true that men are more inclined toward multiple sexual relationships instead of commitment to one partner. So women often rely on female kin because men are around less often.
