Artist's concept of launching the cellular DNA-damage response by the ATR-ATRIP complex (IMAGE)
Caption
Despite constant assaults by endogenous and environmental agents on the DNA, the genomes are maintained by the elaborate mechanisms. As a master regulator of genomic stability, the ATR kinase (yellow helmet) acts together with its partner ATRIP protein (orange helmet) , forming a dimer of heterodimers and mobilizing a multitude of proteins (tools on the ground) to trigger one of the most extensive signaling cascade.
