Cover Story (IMAGE) Science China Press Caption Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by SARS-CoV-2, has rapidly spread and caused a severe global pandemic. Due to lack of specific drugs for COVID-19, accurate and rapid diagnosis of it has been the most crucial measure to control this pandemic. Guo and coworkers developed an unprecedented accurate, high-speed, portable bifunctional electrical detector for COVID-19 based on electrical nanocircuits to directly translate the biological processes of either nucleic acid hybridization or antigen-antibody protein interaction into detectable electrical signals from real clinical samples. This approach enables high-throughput point-of-care testing of COVID-19 outside of specialized diagnostic laboratories, as well as offers a universal methodology ready for immediate application and rapid detection of various biomolecules and viruses.
