Electron Microscopy of a Manganese Dioxide Nanowire (IMAGE)
Caption
Electron microscopy of a manganese dioxide nanowire in cross-section shows its tunnelled atomic structure, stabilized by potassium ions. The tunnels measure about three-quarters of a nanometer, or 7.5 ångstroms, in diameter. The inset is a model of the tunnel viewed down its axis.
