Tracing Genome Duplication and Gene Expansion in Key Plant Groups (IMAGE)
Caption
One hallmark of plant evolution is the frequency of genome duplication. Flowering plants are renowned for making multiple copies of their genome, which may contribute to the evolution of new gene functions. The 1KP project uncovered previously unknown duplication events in this group.
