14個体が左の池に入水した（A）；左の池の水面からの反射光は、右の池に比べて、水平偏光が強く（B）、光の強度は弱い（Ｃ）；光の分光スペクトルは２つの池で大きな差はなかった（Ｄ）。パネルＢは水面の偏光画像である。赤みが強いことは偏光の角度が水平に近いことを示す。彩度が高いことは反射光に偏光が多く含まれることを示す。
