Lgr5 (in green) marks adult intestinal stem cells. Crypts near granulomas (the large mass in the middle, with a larval worm visible inside) lose Lgr5+ intestinal stem cells. Sca1 (in red) marks injury-responsive crypt cells, which activate a fetal-like program. Cell nuclei are visible in blue.
