Optoelectronic materials that can be painted on and work great at room temperature: Here a molecular depiction. HOIPs defy conventional wisdom about semiconductors. Their chemistry is incredibly wobbly, whereas semiconductors have been based so far on steady, rigid, nearly still chemistry. HOIPs also defy physics models researchers have tried to apply to explain them.
