Cell Cultures (IMAGE) Duke University Caption Parallel lines of cultured cells are stained to indicate whether they are electrically conductive or not. An electrical signal attempting to cross this culture is slowed by the inactive cells. But after treatment with a trio bacterial genes, the formerly inactive cells became electrically active, speeding up the electrical signals as they raced across the lines.
