Researchers drilled several ice cores from Dome C, one of the highest points on the Antarctic ice sheet, to reconstruct records of large volcanic eruptions stored in layers of ice. The researchers' new method is more accurate than previous techniques, providing a new perspective on the past 2,600 years of Earth's volcanic history.
