This image shows the conformation of proteins around a nutrient as it is transported across the cellular membrane. Each color represents a different protein, and the shaded area in the center shows a cavity containing the nutrient. Purdue associate professor of biological sciences Jue Chen led the team that was the first to obtain an image of this structure.
