ORNL scientists Chris Tulk, left, and Jamie Molaison were part of a team that discovered a pathway to the unexpected formation of dense, crystalline phases of ice thought to exist beyond Earth's limits. They used the unique neutron scattering capability of the Spallation Neutrons and Pressure Diffractometer at ORNL's Spallation Neutron Source for the experiment.
