Microscopic Image Showing Structural Cavities in Oxalis Plant (IMAGE)
Caption
Microscopic image showing the structural cavities (CV) within the epithelial lining in the cotyledons (CT) of one of the six Oxalis species used in the study. Researchers at Stellenbosch University believe these cavities host endophyte bacteria that help the plant to fix nitrogen from the air and perform extraordinary feats of germination.
