<i>Oxalis hirta</i> Has Formed a Symbiotic Relationship with Bacterial Genus Bacillus (IMAGE)

Over millions of years this species from the genus Oxalis, Oxalis hirta, have developed a symbiotic relationship with bacteria from the genus Bacillus, to such an extent that the bacteria are inherited from mother plant to seeds. Both Oxalis species are endemic to the Cape Floral Kingdom.
