Lake Victoria (IMAGE) University of Utah Caption This is a view of the Kenya side of Lake Victoria in Africa. A new University of Utah-led study shows the area was grassy and thus amenable to livestock some 2,000 years ago, contrary to earlier theories that the area was bushy, moist and infested with disease-carrying tsetse flies that would have prevented early herders and their livestock from traversing the area.
