Optical coherence tomography (OCT), is used to all investigators to see a cross-section of the human retina. Right is a cross-section of an individual with a health retina. Left, a cross-section image of a patient with a retinal detachment is observed. Note the triangular detached space where the retina has separated from its underlying support structure.
