Fluorescent Confocal Microscopy Images of 8-Day-Old Arabidopsis thaliana Roots (IMAGE)
Caption
Researchers at the University of Tokyo have confirmed that crowded nuclei proteins (CRWN1-3) support the oval shape of plant cell nuclei and also have a role in regulating the expression of genes important for coping with environmental stress. Purple color shows cell walls and green color shows CRWN1-3 in the immature leaf (top, cotyledon epidermis), mature area of the root (middle, differential zone) and actively growing end of the root (bottom, meristematic zone).
