Looking and Acting Like a Real Fish (IMAGE)

During experiments at NYU-Poly, live zebrafish did not perceive a bioinspired robot -- with the coloration, size, aspect ratio, and fin shape of a fertile female -- as one of their own. But neither did they perceive it as a predator, and the robot modified their social behavior, particularly when its tail beat simulated their own.
