DKK1 and CKAP4 are overexpressed in cancer cells and the PI3 kinase–AKT pathway is activated, promoting cell proliferation. Cancer cells secrete CKAP4 in exosomes, and serum CKAP4 is detected by the anti-CKAP4 antibody as a biomarker of pancreatic cancer. The anti-CKAP4 antibody is also useful in pancreatic cancer therapy.
