Excess Oxygen Increases Autophagy in Lung Cells (IMAGE)

When mouse lungs are exposed to high concentrations of supplemental oxygen (HYP), there is increased autophagy, as shown by increased green staining of the protein LC3, compared to room air. The Type II Alveolar cells of the lung are stained red. The combination of the autophagy protein localized to these cells is shown in yellow with white arrows.
