Argonaute -- the Slicing Element in RNA Interference (IMAGE)
Caption
Structural biologists led by CSHL's Leemor Joshua-Tor obtained this view at atomic resolution of the human Argonaute protein. The brown-colored structure at the bottom is a portion of the GW182 protein that latches on to Argonaute, promoting their binding. This is an essential step in the process through which RNA interference (RNAi) silences gene expression.
