Radio Frequency (IMAGE) Purdue University Caption This is an image of a tiny switch called a radio-frequency micro-electromechanical system. The device has a length of about 400 microns, or millionths of a meter, or roughly four times the width of a human hair. The National Nuclear Security Administration will award a $17 million cooperative agreement for a research center at Purdue's Discovery Park to develop advanced simulations to perfect the devices for commercial and defense applications.
