Vortex Reconnection

Simulations reveal the devilish details of vortex dynamics. Vortex reconnection is the process by which two oppositely signed vortices cut and connect to each other. Reconnection is a fundamental event of topological change, as after connection, part of the vortex connects with a part of the other. Vortex reconnection cascade via direct numerical simulation up to Re=40,000.
