Tetsuto Miyashita and Rob Gess Standing on the Fossil Site Neaer Makhanda - February 2016 (IMAGE)
Caption
Tetsuto Miyashita (right) stands with researcher Rob Gess in February 2016 atop the shale locality in Makhanda, South Africa that has yielded fossils of the 360 million-year-old lamprey, Priscomyzon. Many other invertebrate and plant fossils have been found at this site. These have helped define the coastal habitat in which Priscomyzon lived.
