Tiny Jellyfish Speeds along with Multiple 'Jets' (VIDEO)
Caption
University of Oregon oceanographer Kelly Sutherland, Oregon Institute of Marine Biology, talks about her research on tiny colonial jellyfish. Working under a National Science Foundation grant (OCE-1155084), her team documented how water-shooting jets located in individual units of the animal allow for rapid, coordinated movement. The findings are in the Sept. 2 issue of Nature Communications.
