Age-realted macular degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in people over age 50 in the industrialized world. Now, researchers at washington university school of medicine in St. Louis have identified a molecular pathway that leads to the formation of blood vessels that can cause vision loss in patients with the disorder. And the researchers say the finding could provide potential treatment targets for the bliniding disease.
