Substrates S1 and S2 are absorbed by incorporating proteins C1 and C2. This generates the nutrition flow (1). Ribosomes synthesize proteins (2a) from precursors (2a) extracted from the nutrient. Each of the white numbered circles stands for a biochemical process leading to the adaptation of the cell.
