Havre Volcano Map (IMAGE)
Caption
The Havre volcano is located off the coast of New Zealand in the Kermadec Region, a volcanically active and tectonically complex plate boundary system. Researchers used the remotely operated vehicle Jason and the autonomous underwater vehicle Sentry, both operated by WHOI, to investigate the largest recorded submarine explosive eruption in history.
