黃色的部分顯示透過CRISPR的導航定位，CARPID的「標記工具」（BASU）會被牽引至目標RNA附近。BASU將生物素（B）標記於與目標RNA結合的蛋白質（RBP）上。之後研究人員用鏈霉親和素（MyOne T1）就可以找出被標記的蛋白質。
