When dieting to lose weight, some people eat extra protein to keep from feeling quite as hungry. Protein also is sometimes recommended to keep dieters from losing too much lean tissue when they're trying to lose fat, but researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have found that a high-protein weight-loss diet seems to block normal improvements to insulin sensitivity and prevent one of the big health benefits of weight loss.
