The Deep Sea Drilling Vessel Chikyu is the state-of-the-art scientific drill ship operated by the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology through the Center for Deep Earth Exploration for the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program. The NanTroSEIZE Stage 1 expeditions were implemented from September 2007 to February 2008.
