Birds and bees are good indicators of the overall biodiversity of a particular area. Lead author Fangyuan Hua and her collaborators collected bee species and identified them using DNA barcoding. The researchers found bees suffered from reforestation regardless, which was likely caused by the lack of floral resources in replanted forests.
