A gabled roof end of small cabin with metal bracing holding all together was found at Kamilo Point on the Island of Hawaii in September 2013. Beams such as these of unusual widths and with mortise and tenon features, as well as huge poles, washed up on windward shores of Hawaii in fall and winter 2013. Experts have identified some of the wood as 'Sugi', which is endemic to Japan.
