Fact: As Earth warms, ice is receding at the poles and commercial fisheries are gaining access to vulnerable fish stocks. 2015 Pew marine fellow Aaron Fisk, a professor at the University of Windsor, is working to empower Inuit communities to manage their fisheries under changing conditions and increasing fishing pressure. He seeks to engage Inuit community members in artisanal fisheries research, monitoring, and management in the Arctic.
Fisk is one of five distinguished scientists and conservationists from Canada, Australia, Russia, and the United Kingdom to be named a 2015 recipient of the Pew fellowship in marine conservation.
