Mucins (IMAGE)
Caption
In this graphic, coronaviruses interact with mucus proteins at the human cell surface. University of Utah biomedical engineering assistant professor Jessica R. Kramer is researching how mucus plays a part in transferring coronaviruses from person to person. This research could help officials better understand who would spread the virus more or how to develop effective quarantine measures for high-risk populations.
