Revolutionary Zebrafish Model (IMAGE) NYU Tandon School of Engineering Caption A research team headed by NYU Tandon School of Engineering Professor Maurizio Porfiri has successfully developed the first successful 3-D computer modeling of the motions of zebrafish, which are increasingly the species of choice for biomedical research, particularly neurobehavioral studies that are critical to understanding the brain. Accurate modeling could reduce the number of animals used in laboratories -- 20 million annually.
