A tiny device the width of a human hair may eventually be a key to more effective treatments for problems such as pain, depression and epilepsy. Researchers have shown, in mice, that the devices can be implanted into the brain and activated by remote control to deliver drugs to specific populations of brain cells. Jim Dryden reports.
