Within the top nerve cell, vesicles -- which are tiny bubbles (orange) filled with neurotransmitters (red dots) move toward the end of the nerve cell and one (with down arrow) fuses with the cell wall and releases neurotransmitters into the synapse between nerve cells and toward a mass of receptors (red cross-hatching).
