The transportation mechanism of cationic nanoliposomes, visualized by AIE, is dominated by the protein corona. In the absence of serum, the AIE-visualized liposomes interact with the cell membrane through fusion (left side). In the presence of serum, the AIE-visualized liposomes can be taken up by endocytosis (right side).
